Twitch

Sometimes I make study visits to the least-watched channels on Twitch. Recently, I witnessed what was probably not a very uncommon episode that I still find somewhat poetic.

It so happened that I was the sole viewer on a channel whose host lacked both webcam and microphone, and was playing a game, which I can't remember. After a few minutes, another viewer appeared, and the following conversation between this viewer and the host, paraphrased from memory, unfolded in the chat:

viewer: cool
viewer: nice profile picture
viewer: who created your banner?
host: I did :)
viewer: its great

[A few minutes pause]

viewer: for 100 dollar i can get you 200 viewers
host: Sorry, I'm not interested
viewer: not bots, real people
host: Thank you, but I want to build my channel by myself, no shortcuts
viewer: its not cheating they are real people
viewer: i can see u are good
host: Sorry, I unfortunately have to decline

The conversation continues a few more rounds along the same lines before the person in the chat gives up and leaves the channel.

For me, it was almost like an art experience to witness the creation of this dialogue alone in a forgotten corner of Twitch. Even though the feeling might not be the same here out of context, this interaction, in my opinion, has something poetic about it. It instills in me a sense of tranquility, like the closing of a circle. To delve further into my interpretation of it would go beyond my intention, but I still wanted to share this experience in case it also happens to resonate somehow with someone else.
