Doxing

I'm self-doxed, and this page is a guide to stalking me online (if you need it).

I happen to be stupid enough to have my own web servers, there goes my IP. An rDNS lookup tells you which other domains I own. There you find name and other information about me, and in combination with Google it is possible to form a pretty good picture of who I was during my college days. The name and geographic information can be searched to find my address, my phone number, but also where I lived previously. This way you may e.g. find my family members. I link directly to my GitHub account, and it's also possible to find accounts of mine on other sites by going through enough pages of Google search results, you can then see which accounts I follow, etc. (So you don't look unnecessarily, I use neither Facebook nor Twitter).

It is of course partly a conscious choice to make it so simple – I think it's fun to spread breadcrumbs on the internet, but unfortunately that also makes me more vulnerable. My servers being connected to the internet should perhaps be a bit scary, but I know what I'm doing and no one is hacking me using established methods. Of course, you can DoS me very easily, but who cares? What scares me more are entities with access to great resources, or those who know what they are doing and are targeting me specifically. If only a single person can find that much information about me, what can a big player do, one that also has direct access to ad networks, private accounts, activity history, etc.? Or someone experienced and more cunning than me, with a long-term plan and the patience to see it through?

On the whole, this self-dox thing is a pretty minor concern with regards to my privacy. If you have resources or know what you're doing, that information would still be out there. But I hope you appreciate this little nod.
